The book launch was held in the Jonaki Hall, Guwahati Book Fair, Chandmari, Guwahati.

Digital Desk: 'Moujuri', a translation of Syed Abdul Malik's classic novel 'Nal Birina Khagori', translated into English by Tonmoyee Rani Neog and Jahnu Bharadwaj, has been released today.

The book launch was held in the Jonaki Hall, Guwahati Book Fair, Chandmari, Guwahati.

Mr.Bipul Deuri, Sahitya Akademi Award Winner for translation in the year 2014, inaugurated the book launch ceremony which was later taken forward by Lutfa Hanum Salima Begum, Noted Poet and Academician.

The ceremony was hosted by  Panchanan Hazarika, Short Storyist and Academician.

In the book launch, Bipul Deuri and Lutfa Hanum Salima Begum emphasized the significance of Syed Abdul Malik and his works in the social and literary spheres of Assam. Then, both the translators narrated their experiences of re-reading and translating Malik's Nal Birina Khagori into English. While Tonmoyee explained the genesis of the translation project and the difficulty they have had in their task, Jahnu emphasized the technical and methodological aspects, and the concern they had regarding the nuances of Malik that easily get lost in translation.

The meeting was joined by family members of Syed Abdul Malik and the full house indicated the significance and appeal Malik still has in Assam's public sphere.

Finally, the meeting ended with a thanking note by Tonmoyee Rani Neog.

Moujuri is available at the stall of Purbayon Publications in the Guwahati Book Fair, currently being held at the Assam Engineering Institute Field, Chandmari, Guwahati. The price of the book is 190 rupees.
