Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, devotees were finally allowed to participate in the annual Ambubachi Mela at Assam's renowned divine shrine Kamakhya Temple on June 22.

The administration and the temple officials have also implemented a series of restrictions to avoid a spike in Covid-19 cases during the Ambubachi.

The minister of tourism for Assam, Shri Chandan Brahmafurther stated that everyone would receive equal treatment, and no extra attention would be given to the VIPs.

As per the issued advisory by Assam Police, there won't be any pilgrim camps on the temple grounds; only police camps will be pitched.

The temple administrators said there would be no accommodations or food this time for the pilgrims traveling from other states.

Moreover, the temple administrators stated that throughout the four days of the Mela, the temporary stalls on the Nilachal Hills would remain closed.
