Digital Desk: A magnitude 4.1 earthquake trembled Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The reports from National Centre for Seismology confirm that the earthquake was struck at 5.15 a.m., at a depth of 5 km. The latitude and longitude were given as 35.06 and 74.49 degrees, respectively.
"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 30-04-2023, 05:15:34 IST, Lat: 35.06 & Long: 74.49, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Jammu and Kashmir, India," the National Centre for Seismology tweeted.
Furthermore, based on a government statement, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to establish state-of-the-art Emergency Operation Centres (EOC) in all 20 districts to minimise the damage caused by natural disasters because the state is in a high seismic zone and is also highly prone to flood damage.
The building of the EOC in Budgam district has begun, which will have a comprehensive disaster management plan under the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) 2019, that is going to be implemented in all districts.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the NDMA, administration of India, for the development of an Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) to manage disaster calls in Dial No 112.
