Vasundhara conspired with the others and staged a road accident to carry out the attack
Digital Desk: A woman and three others have been arrested in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district for allegedly injecting an HIV-infected substance into a doctor, who is reportedly the wife of the woman’s former lover, police said.
The accused have been identified as B. Boya Vasundhara (34), a resident of Kurnool; Konge Jyothi (40), a nurse employed at a private hospital in Adoni; and Jyothi’s two children, both in their 20s. The arrests were made on 24th January.
According to police, Vasundhara conspired with the others and staged a road accident to carry out the attack. “After planning the incident, the accused deliberately caused an accident and injected the victim with an HIV-infected substance,”
Police said the accused procured HIV-infected blood samples from patients undergoing treatment at a government hospital, claiming the samples were required for research purposes. The blood was allegedly stored in a refrigerator before being used in the attack.
Investigators said Vasundhara planned the crime after being unable to accept that her former lover had married another woman.
The incident took place on 9th January , when the victim, an assistant professor at a private medical college in Kurnool, was returning home on a scooter. Police said two persons on a motorcycle intentionally rammed her vehicle, causing her to fall and suffer injuries.
Following the incident, Vasundhara allegedly approached the victim under the pretext of helping her and, while attempting to put her into an autorickshaw, administered the injection. She reportedly fled the scene after the victim raised an alarm.
Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
