The resort's manager and assistant manager were detained on Friday and placed in 14-day judicial detention along with the resort's owner, Pulkit Arya, who is also the BJP leader Vinod Arya's son.

Digital Desk: The family of the 19-year-old murdered Uttarakhand teenager, Ankita Bhandari, has refused to perform the last rites as they have demanded handing over of the post-mortem first.

The girl's father has also questioned the government of Uttarakhand regarding the resort's demolition, asking, "Why was the resort razed when it possessed evidence?"

The SIT team, who is currently looking into the issue, will now look into the teen's WhatsApp conversations. She had admitted to one of her close friends that she was compelled to give guests at the resort "extra service."

The resort's manager and assistant manager were detained on Friday and placed in 14-day judicial detention along with the resort's owner, Pulkit Arya, who is also the BJP leader Vinod Arya's son.

According to the autopsy report, Ankita drowned and there were injuries on her body that were consistent with blunt force trauma just before she passed away.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, launched an SIT investigation into the incident after Ankita Bhandari's suspected murder provoked demonstrations and promised "harshest punishment" for those responsible. The SIT would also look into Ankita's WhatsApp conversations in which she complained to a close friend that Pulkit Arya and the resort's managers were putting pressure on her to offer "special services" to customers.

"We have summoned every resort employee to the police station, where we will record everyone's statements. We are conducting a thorough background investigation on the property. Investigators are also looking into Ankita's WhatsApp conversations that have surfaced "SIT chief DIG PR Devi said to ANI.

The proper post-mortem report is still pending, but we should have it today, according to DIG.

The deceased's relatives stated that they won't perform the last rites and will wait for the final post-mortem report's release. Additionally, they have urged that the accused be hanged and that the case be heard by a fast-track court. On Saturday early in the morning, police in Rishikesh found her dead in the Chilla canal.

"We won't conduct her last rites until her post-mortem report is given. Her interim report revealed that she had been beaten and thrown into a river. However, we're still awaiting the full report "Ajay Singh Bhandari, Ankita Bhandari's brother, said.
