Digital Desk: The state government sealed five resorts in Nainital district on Saturday, amid widespread outrage over the murder of a 19-year-old receptionist at a resort owned by the son of a now-expelled BJP leader in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh.

According to the Uttarakhand government, five resorts in the Dhanachuli area of Nainital district have been sealed on the orders of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The district administration checked various homestays and resorts and discovered that five resorts were not following the rules.

The chief minister has also directed all district magistrates to inspect all hotels and resorts in their respective areas and take appropriate action if violations of the established standards are discovered.

Dhami stated that he wanted to make it clear that those who disrupt the atmosphere in the state, no matter how powerful they are, will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Dhami called the victim's father and promised to take strict action against the perpetrators by conducting a prompt and fair investigation into the crime.
