Digital Desk: The Arunachal Pradesh government has imposed a ban on the sale and use of Coldrif cough syrup following reports linking the medicine to the death of 21 children in different parts of the country.


The Drugs Controller of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Komling Perme, stated that the move was reached to contain the syrup as a precautionary measure due to the reports on the drug by other states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, where the syrup was allegedly linked to the deaths of children.


A general advisory warning against careless use of the medicine by the paediatric population and its rational use by the Government of India Director General of Health Services (DGHS) had been issued previously. In response to this, the state government has instructed all the pharmacies and other health- care facilities to pull out the Coldrif syrup immediately without offering to sell it or distribute it further.
