The Guwahati edition will once again be hosted at the Veterinary College playground in Khanapara and will run for 14 days


Digital Desk: The Assam Book Fair 2025-26 will be held across eight cities in the state, beginning in October 2025 and concluding in January 2026. On Tuesday the decision was announced through a press conference at the office of the Assam Publication Council with the Council Secretary Pramod Kalita along with representatives from All Assam Publishers and Booksellers Association.


This year the fair would not only be restricted to Guwahati, but  it will alos extend to Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Silchar, and Mangaldai as an effort to reach out and develop culture of reading among more people.


The Guwahati  edition will also be hosted at the same Veterinary College playground in Khanapara but this time around will take place over a period of 14 days, or in this case two days more than last year, from December 24, 2025-2026 January 6, 2026. The extension will serve to allow book lovers to have extra hours to visit and take part in the different literary programs in the fair.


Earlier this year, on January 1, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had declared 2025 as the “Year of Books” and announced that the Assam Book Fair would be jointly organised by the Assam Publication Board and the All Assam Publishers and Booksellers Association moving forward.


The full schedule is as follows:-

·        Bongaigaon: October 22–29, 2025

·        Lakhimpur: November 1–10, 2025

·        Nalbari: November 6–17, 2025

·        Jorhat: November 14–26, 2025

·        Tinsukia: November 28 – December 7, 2025

·        Silchar: December 1–10, 2025

·        Mangaldai: December 12–18, 2025

·        Guwahati: December 24, 2025 – January 6, 2026


The organizers hope this expanded format will strengthen the connection between books and readers across Assam.
