Digital Desk: A massive scam involving Railway Department jobs has come to light in Guwahati, where crores of rupees were looted by a large broker network, led by Dhan Deka.
The network allegedly collected crores from job seekers under the pretense of providing railway jobs.
Three men from Nagaon, Champak Kalita, Jiten Kalita, and Panchanan Deka, were also involved in the scam.
Mastermind Dhan Deka was arrested in Noonmati on Sunday after locals and unemployed individuals caught him, beat him, and handed him over to the police.
Shockingly, Dhan was sent to jail on the same day by the police without any investigation. He was granted bail on Monday after being arrested on Sunday.
However, after the CCTV footage of Deka sharing the collected money with another man went viral, the Police Commissioner of Guwahati, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, instructed the Noonmati police to re-arrest him.
Later, the Chandmari police took Dhan Deka into custody for 4 days.
