Digital Desk: Following several days of questioning, Assam's Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday made another police official arrest in connection with the Bajali Corruption case.
The police officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Patacharkuchi Police Station Sasanka Das, was reportedly listed as an offender right away when the situation came to light earlier this month, according to reports. Then, Assam CID detained him along with two home guards, four more police officers, and four other police officials. He was detained by the CID today following the conclusion of the questioning process.
After the arrest, the large CID team departed the main office with Sasanka Das for Beltola, where they would conduct an operation at the home of the sister-in-law of former Bajali ASP Gayatri Sonowal in order to look for the second Macbook.
It has come to light that Gayatri Sonowal's sister-in-law works as a magistrate.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Hrishikesh Das will probably be called as a witness in the case by Assam CID in the meantime. According to sources, the police official had admitted to all of the charges brought against him during the interrogation.
It should be noted that SI (Border Branch) Hrishikesh Das' name came up in the investigation, and the CID called him in last Tuesday.
