Assam government handed over Rs 25,000 to the Bihu performers who helped Assam enter the Guinness Book of World Records...

Digital Desk: On July 1, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told Bihuwas and Bihuwatis, who received Rs 25,000 from the government, to spend the money on their education.

Sarma remarked this while addressing a meeting in Dibrugarh on July 1, adding, "If the fund is utilised prudently, the benefits will be manifold."

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was quoted as stating on Twitter," "I urge all the Bihuwas and Bihuwatis, who received ₹25,000 as a mark of gratitude from the Govt, to invest the amount for their education. The entire exercise costs the exchequer Rs 30 crore, but I'm certain that if used judiciously, the returns will manifold."

On June 30 and July 1, the Assam government handed over Rs 25,000 to the Bihu performers who took part in the historic event and helped Assam enter the Guinness Book of World Records on April 13.

Assam established another Guinness World Record in a magnificent showing of cultural pride by organising the largest live group performance of the ancient DHOL instrument.

Around 3,000 Dhuliyas, or Drummers, gathered in a single frame to play the DHOL and set a new record at an event held at Guwahati's Sarusajai Stadium in the presence of Guinness World Record officials.

The record was established immediately following the Guinness World Record performance for the largest Bihu dance in a single frame.

Assam achieved a new Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance in a single frame, with over 11,000 folk dancers and drummers.

Singers and musicians playing traditional instruments like dhol, taal, Gogona, Toka, Pepa, and Xutuli were among those who performed.
