Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday will be dedicating the elevated South Bank Corridor of North Guwahati bridge to the public.
 
By redirecting traffic over the river, the bridge—which was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 326 crore will improve connectivity between Bhootnath and Machkhowa.

Taking to X, Sarma stated, "Decongesting Guwahati ???? Tomorrow, the Elevated South Bank Corridor of the Guwahati North Guwahati bridge will be dedicated to the public. This ₹326cr arm will ease connectivity between Bhootnath to Machkhowa and vice versa by diverting traffic over the river".


The major corridor of the Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge Elevated South Bank Corridor will be opened on Monday.

Significant progress is being made on a portion of the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge, which would bypass Bhootnath Point and connect Sonaram Field to Machkhowa. Sarma announced on X on December 19 that the ambitious bridge over the Brahmaputra River is about 80% finished. 
 
The goal of this six-lane bridge-turned-road project is to alleviate Guwahati's traffic congestion. According to Sarma, the project, which connects Guwahati and North Guwahati by crossing the Brahmaputra, is expected to be finished by Diwali 2024.
