Digital Desk: Covid vaccination drive for teens aged 15 to 18 years begins today as many as 4,261 teens have registered for the vaccination drive in Kamrup district, Assam alone. As per the latest updated data of the Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC), fifteen schools in Kamrup district have been selected as Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC).

The complete list of Covid Vaccination Centres in Kamrup (Metropolitan) District are as follows:-

  • IOCL, K.V. Narengi – Second Half
  • Kamrup Academy – Second Half
  • Sonapur College – Second Half
  • Don Bosco School, Panbazar – First Half
  • Gyan Jyoti High School – Second Half
  • Naharguri High School – Second Half
  • Cotton Collegiate H S School – Second Half
  • T.C. HS School – Second Half
  • Sonapur HS School – Second Half
  • Kaziranga English Academy – Both Shifts
  • Dispur HS School – Second Half
  • Ulubari HS School - Second Half
  • Gopal Boro Gov. HS School – Both Shifts
  • Sonaram HS School – Second Half
  • Kaliram HS School – First Half
  • Cotton Collegiate HS School – Second Half

Meanwhile, children will be administered only the indigenous made Covaxin, while additional doses of the vaccine will be sent to all states and Union Territories.

The Union Health Ministry kick-off the registration process for Covid vaccination for minors from Saturday onwards. Both walk-in as well as online registration in the indigenously made CoWin app was made available to children of the age group 15-18 years of age, who are getting inoculated against coronavirus on January 3.

On December 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation, announced that vaccination for 15-18 year age group will begin from January 3. Over 8 lakh teens have already registered in CoWin portal till now.

As per government data, there is an estimated 7.40 crore children in the 15-18 age group eligible for the Covid vaccination. Parents being the sole decision markers, many are apprehensive of getting their wards inoculated against the virus, fearing side effects. Not only India, but similar trends have been witnessed in other countries as well, with regards to children getting vaccinated.
