Digital Desk: A tragedy unfolded this morning in Bilasipara as Cyclone Remal hit the state badly. At approximately 7 am, chaos erupted on Bania road when a vehicle, carrying students and other passengers to Shankardev Shishu Niketan school, encountered an obstruction, likely a consequence of the cyclone. The resulting collision caused the vehicle to overturn as the driver struggled to regain control.

The aftermath left passengers, predominantly students on their way to school, with severe injuries. Among them was Shivam Barman, a young 7-year-old student of Shankardev Bidya Shishu Niketan, accompanied by his mother. Despite immediate efforts to transport the injured to Bilasipara Model Hospital, Shivam Barman tragically succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Kokrajhar Hospital.

A local recounted, "Around 7 am this morning, a vehicle carrying students and other passengers was en route to Shankardev Shishu Niketan school in Bilasipara. As they approached Bania road, they encountered an obstruction, likely caused by the cyclone, resulting in the driver losing control and the vehicle overturning. Several passengers, including students, sustained severe injuries. Among them was Shivam Barman, a 7-year-old student of Shankardev Bidya Shishu Niketan, accompanied by his mother. They were swiftly taken to Bilasipara Model Hospital but later transferred to other medical facilities. Unfortunately, upon arrival at Kokrajhar Hospital, Shivam Barman was declared dead."
