Digital Desk: A significant landslide struck the right bank of the NHPC Lower Subansiri Hydroelectricity Project in Gogamukh on Monday (May 27), triggered by heavy rainfall, resulting in the tragic death of a worker.

Sources report that rocks cascaded from a height of at least 200 meters due to the landslide.

The incident caused severe injuries to a worker, who was promptly transported to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). Sadly, resident doctors at AMCH declared him brought dead upon arrival.

The deceased worker, identified as Putul Gogoi, was a resident of Mingmang Madanpur in Gogamukh.

Authorities are currently assessing the situation and evaluating the extent of damage caused by the landslide.

This occurrence has raised concerns regarding safety protocols at the hydroelectric project site, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Further investigations are expected to determine the cause of the landslide and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
