The charge sheet, presented before the NIA special court in Guwahati, identifies Baruah and others as the key conspirators and perpetrators of the attack.

Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against Paresh Baruah, the leader of ULFA-I, and five others for allegedly plotting to target army camps with an anti-India agenda, according to the central agency's statement.

In connection with a 2023 case involving a terrorist attack on an army camp in Assam, the NIA has accused them of various criminal offenses, asserting that the banned ULFA-I group planned and executed the assault. The incident, which occurred on November 22, 2023, involved two motorcyclists throwing grenades at the Kakopathar army camp in Tinsukia district, with no injuries reported, as per the NIA's findings.

The charge sheet, presented before the NIA special court in Guwahati, identifies Baruah and others as the key conspirators and perpetrators of the attack. While Parag Borah and Bijoy Moran were apprehended last December, the remaining suspects are still at large. The charges include sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and Explosives Substances Act, unveiling a network aimed at advancing ULFA-I's separatist agenda.

NIA's investigation uncovered a network involving recruitment, training camps, and terrorist attacks orchestrated by the leadership of ULFA-I. Baruah and Arunudoy Dohutia are named as the masterminds behind the plot, with Abhijeet Gogoi coordinating the attack. Allegedly, social media platforms were used for recruiting and training youth, leading to terrorist activities aligned with ULFA-I's extremist ideology.
