Digital Desk: A huge number of illegal Yaba tablets worth over Rs 15 crore were seized in a car and one person was detained in this connection in the Kamrup district of Assam on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Mohammad Ajmal Khan (30 years old). He is a resident of Thoubal district in Manipur.

The drug bust occurred 20 kilometres outside of Guwahati city in the Sonapur area.

According to the official, a police team under the command of Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta initiated an operation based on the precise information and stopped a car at the Nazirakhat toll gate close to Sonapur.

Police seized 60,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle's secret compartments during the search operation, according to officials.

As per the police the market value of the seized drugs is around Rs 15 crore.
