Hailing from Birubari in Guwahati, Avantika has brought immense pride to both her state and the nation by clinching two silver medals at the Oceania International Invitational Wushu Kung-Fu Championships.


Held in Australia from May 21 to May 25, 2026, the prestigious competition featured elite athletes from across the globe.


Representing India with distinction, Avantika delivered a stellar performance to secure silver in both the Traditional Nanquan and the Traditional Single Weapon categories.


Following her remarkable international triumph, Avantika received a hero's welcome upon her return home.


The atmosphere at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati was electric as family members, sports enthusiasts and representatives from various local organisations gathered to honour her with traditional gamosas and floral tributes, celebrating a victory that has inspired the entire region.
