Digital Desk: Renowned Assamese singer Samar Hazarika, the younger brother of legendary music icon Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, passed away today , casting a pall of grief over Assam on the occasion of Uruka. He breathed his last at his residence in Nijorapara, Guwahati, at around 8:45 am after a prolonged illness. Prior to his demise, he had been undergoing treatment at Hayat Hospital in the city.


Samar Hazarika began his musical journey in 1960 and went on to make significant contributions to Assamese music. Over the decades, he lent his melodious voice to several Assamese films and released numerous albums, earning widespread admiration from music lovers across the state. His songs, marked by emotional depth and artistic finesse, hold a special place in Assam’s rich cultural heritage.


Known for his soulful voice and creative brilliance, Samar Hazarika remained a cherished figure in the Assamese music fraternity.
