Officials reported that the seized items had a total weight of approximately eight kilograms and 800 grams.

Digital Desk: Six fake golden boat-shaped objects, weighing over eight kilograms, were seized on Friday night from a night service bus in Gohpur, Assam. The operation against smuggling led to the detention of 10 passengers on the bus.

Gohpur Police, operating in Assam's Biswanath district, conducted the raid based on specific intelligence. They intercepted the night service bus named 'Rishan' near the Howajan police outpost. The bus, with registration number AS 15 C 9679, was thoroughly inspected, and the boat-shaped objects were found in six luggage bags.

Officials reported that the seized items had a total weight of approximately eight kilograms and 800 grams.

According to the bus driver and co-pilot, six individuals boarded the bus from Laluk in Lakhimpur. The bus was traveling from Gogamukh to Barpeta Road.

When the police requested identification for the owners of the bags, no one came forward. As a result, 10 passengers were detained and are currently being questioned. Authorities suspect that the passengers who boarded from Laluk might have been transporting fake gold items intended for smuggling.

The driver and co-pilot have denied any involvement. "This is the first time we have encountered such a situation. We are not involved and have no knowledge of the items," they stated.
