Members of the VDO approached and questioned the Bangladeshi nationals after spotting them roaming around...

Digital Desk: As many as four alleged Bangladeshi citizens were taken into custody by locals on Sunday in the Cachar district of Assam.

As per reports, the incident occurred early in the day in Gumrah village, in the Cachar district of Assam. They were detained from the Gumrah marketplace by the Village Defence Organization (VDO).

Those who were detained were identified as Safiq Ali of Sylhet, Mohammad Ali of Sunamganj, and Mutassir Ali of Habijgaon, all natives of Bangladesh.

Members of the VDO approached and questioned the Bangladeshi nationals after spotting them roaming around in the market. They were taken into custody and turned over to Gumrah Police immediately.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the group entered India three months ago. They entered the country illegally through Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly staying in several locations before arriving in Cachar, Assam.

According to the authorities, those detained are currently under investigation and the police are questioning them in connection with the matter.

The leader of the VDO, speaking to reporters said, “We spotted them roaming in the market and approached them. With the help of my partner here, I managed to nab them. I am extremely happy at having caught them. We have handed them over to the police.”
