Digital Desk: In an attempt to curb the number of accidents due to drunk driving on New Year’s Eve, Assam Police have taken several precautionary measures and imposed several restrictions.

Now, the transport department and the police export department raided various picnic spots in the city. Assam Police has issued a warning ensuring that no one drives after drinking at a picnic. The police have stated that there are no restrictions in going to a picnic, enjoying and drinking; however, the driver cannot be intoxicated.

The Police and Transport department officials are dressed in general clothes and are keeping a hawk’s eye at the picnic spots to avoid unavoidable circumstances.

People all over the state have been praising the measures taken by the Assam government for the protection of those who celebrate the new year.

Assam government and police authorities started a special drive against drunk driving ahead of New Year. On January 1, 2022, CM Sarma, with fulfilment and satisfaction, stated that there were zero cases reported this year of any drink and drive road accidents.

The campaign started by Assam police under the orders of Assam CM Sarma against drunk and drive has turned out to be a productive activity this year.
