Digital Desk: Three relatives of a 19-year-old pregnant woman were arrested on Saturday in Shibpur region of Lakhipur in Cachar district for their alleged participation in her murder, police said. According to authorities, the woman's body, with her neck slit, was discovered on March 10 in the Shibpur portion II region of Lakhipur. A police officer stated, "The victim's parents are primary suspects in the incident, and her younger brother has also been arrested." Kulapradeep Bhattacharya, a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) in Lakhipur, claimed the police deployed sniffing dogs to track her house after discovering her death. "The woman's parents made a series of contradictory assertions. However, as we dug deeper into the case, we discovered additional evidence against them," Bhattacharya added. According to police, the woman was eight months pregnant at her death, and the fetus perished in the womb. The victim's body was buried on Friday after police gave it to his family, but police say it was removed on Saturday for further investigation. According to police, the woman's father told them that a boy who proposed marriage could have impregnated her. Police stated that they are continuing their investigation.
