PPFA requests Assam to make 'The Kashmir Files', which revolves around the 1990 genocide of Kashmiri Pandits, to make it tax-free for audiences.
Digital Desk: The film 'The Kashmir Files,' which is based on the 1990 genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and was released in theatres this week, should be declared tax-free in Assam, according to the Patriotic People's Front Assam (PPFA). Even though India produces hundreds of feature films on diverse themes each year, no film based on this subject has been made to date, according to the forum of nationalist citizens. "In Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, the film has already been declared tax-free. "It was originally planned to release worldwide on 26 January 2022, coinciding with the auspicious Republic Day, but director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri had to postpone due to the Omicron variety spreading throughout the country, and it was finally released on 11 March," according to a PPFA statement. According to the clip, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were forced to flee the valley by Islamists and Pakistan-backed militants. Militants in the valley began killing Kashmiri Pandits with impunity in the late 1980s. Farooq Abdullah, the then-chief minister of J&K, did nothing to stop the cold-blooded killings. Yet, before the Islamists destroyed, Kashmir had a rich culture, music, and cuisine. Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prakash Belawadi, Puneet Issar, Bhasha Sumbli, Sourav Verma, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, Prithviraj Sarnaik, Amaan Iqbal, and others star in the film, which Tej Narayan Agarwal produces.
