To ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, a total of 1,51,132 polling personnel have been deployed


Digital Desk: The Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam is being held today, with voting scheduled from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The counting of votes will take place on 4th May. The BJP-led NDA is aiming for a third consecutive term in the state.


A total of 2,50,54,463 voters are eligible to cast their votes in this election. This includes 1,25,31,552 male voters and 1,25,22,593 female voters, along with 318 voters from the transgender category and 63,423 service voters.


Among the electorate, 6,42,314 are first-time voters aged between 18 and 19 years. Additionally, 2,50,006 voters are above 80 years of age, and 2,05,085 are persons with disabilities.


There are 722 candidates contesting across the 126 constituencies. Polling teams have already departed for their respective stations carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units.


To ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, a total of 1,51,132 polling personnel have been deployed. Election authorities have arranged 41,320 Ballot Units, 43,975 Control Units, and 43,997 VVPAT machines, including reserves for emergency use. Additional personnel have also been kept on standby if required.


The polling process is underway across the state under tight security arrangements.
