The power department's prolonged load shedding has made summertime problems for the public worse. Additionally, the recent sharp increase in mercury levels has only made things worse for people, sparking demonstrations against the power outages.

Digital Desk:  Nandita Gorlosa, the State's Power Minister, gave commuters the reassurance they needed on Sunday amidst a statewide uproar over Assam Power's massive and seemingly endless hours of load-shedding.

A representative told Prag News that although power purchases have been made, power grid constraints are the primary cause of the load shedding. According to the official, the issue will be solved in a week.

The power department's prolonged load shedding has made summertime problems for the public worse. Additionally, the recent sharp increase in mercury levels has only made things worse for people, sparking demonstrations against the power outages.

"Some transmissions in the Sisuram region experienced power outages, which caused issues for the rest of Assam. We are making progress, and the issues will be fixed. Technical glitches have occurred, but we will soon fix them, Gorlosa said in Guwahati. As per higher officials, this problem has been already resolved and they are currently working on the other critical issues.

"Power department employees are working to restore electricity, and the load shedding issue will be resolved within the next 10 days," she continued.

However, when the State cabinet was recently reshuffled, Gorlosa was appointed the new State Power Minister. As a result, the Power Department has been using lengthy periods of load-shedding to fuel protests against the department and Gorlosa in different parts of the State.
