In a separate instance, responding to a tip, a joint police and CRPF squad on Monday morning in the Karbi Anglong district's Dilapi under Bokajan police station confiscated 208 grammes of heroin from a car.

Digital Desk: In Assam's Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts, enormous amounts of brown sugar and heroin worth about Rs two crore have been found, and six people have been detained in connection with this, police said on Monday.

In a raid in the Golaghat district on Sunday night, police found four mobile phones and 1.23 kg of brown sugar concealed inside a four-wheeler in the Barpathar area.

In this regard, four people have been taken into custody.

The estimated market value of the confiscated contraband is close to Rs. 1.85 crore.

In a separate instance, responding to a tip, a joint police and CRPF squad on Monday morning in the Karbi Anglong district's Dilapi under Bokajan police station confiscated 208 grammes of heroin from a car.

Police said the lining of the car's door contained 16 soap boxes full of heroin.

Two people have been taken into custody in this regard.

Over Rs 16 lakh was thought to be the estimated worth of the confiscated contraband.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the Assam Police for continuing to fight the drug epidemic.
