The state government has warned tourists, and rescue efforts are still going on around Himachal Pradesh....

Digital Desk: In the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh's Manikaran valley, heavy rainfall today caused a flash flood that left several persons missing. Following the cloud burst at around 6 am, it is reported that at least four people were washed away. The rescue team were sent to the spot, but they were still stranded in the middle because of landslides.

Reportedly several homes and camping sites were damaged due to the cloudburst in Choj village in Challal panchayat of Kullu. While the local government is relocating residents to safer areas, the bad weather has washed away the only bridge connecting this village to the outside world.

Since a few days ago, Himachal Pradesh has experienced nonstop rain, which has caused major roadways to get blocked and raised the water level in canals and rivers. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange signal for the northern state, and due to bad weather in some locations, travellers have been stranded.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Rampur Bushar tehsil in Shimla's Rampur Bushar district barred traffic on the Ferozepur-Shipki La National Highway-5. An official from the National Highways Authority of India said that the route had been blocked since 2 am because Broni nullah's water flow increased due to the heavy rains that also brought debris on the road. The route is being cleared for traffic as efforts are made to remove the debris as quickly as possible.
