Digital Desk: A religious leader from the Muslim community was shot dead in Maharashtra's Nashik district. Reportedly, the incident occurred in Yeola town's MIDC area, about 200 kilometres from Mumbai. 


A group of four unidentified individuals shot dead the 35-year-old spiritual leader, who was an Afghan national. Police did not immediately know a possible motive for the murder. As per a government official, the deceased, identified as Khwaja Sayyad Chishti, was commonly known as "Sufi Baba" in Yeola.


A Police official stated that the attackers shot him in the forehead with a gun, after which he died on the spot. " After killing Sufi Baba, the assailants took his SUV and escaped," he added.


According to the official, a murder case had been reported at the Yeola police station, and a search operation was underway to find the murderers.
