Digital Desk: A baby elephant was rescued along the India-Bhutan border in Udalguri.

Amid ongoing human-elephant conflicts in various parts of Udalguri, the calf was found near the No. 2 Borongajuli area of Nalapara, part of the Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary.

The adorable baby elephant, estimated to be around one and a half years old, was promptly examined by veterinarians from the Tangla Veterinary Hospital.

Following the health check, it was safely kept at the Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary.

On the occasion of Diwali, forest officials from the sanctuary named the baby elephant "Dipawali," also referred to as Diwali.

After its rescue, efforts were made to provide adequate food for the calf, which drew a number of visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the young elephant.

The forest officials have announced that the calf will undergo another health check-up tomorrow before being relocated to the Manas Wildlife Sanctuary.
