Rishabh Pant hit 46 runs off 45 balls on Day 1 of the first Test, becoming the second Indian wicketkeeper to reach 4000 international runs...

Digital Desk: Rishabh Pant became only the second Indian wicketkeeper to reach 4000 runs in international cricket on December 14. The achievement was accomplished on the first day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

MS Dhoni is the only other Indian wicketkeeper to have scored over 4000 runs at the highest level. Dhoni scored 17092 runs at an average of 44.74 in 535 international matches, including 15 hundreds and 108 half-centuries.

Pant has scored 4021 runs at an average of 33.78 in 128 matches, with a best performance of an undefeated 159.

Pant, as a team's designated wicketkeeper, has scored 3651 runs in 109 matches, including six centuries and 15 half-centuries.

Pant scored 46 runs off 45 balls on Wednesday, with six fours and two sixes. After India lost the early wickets of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli in rapid succession, he and Cheteshwar Pujara put on a 64-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Pant was dismissed while attempting to transfer the attack to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was named Player of the Series after Bangladesh won the three-match ODI series 2-1.

Bangladesh, led by Shakib Al Hasan, took three wickets in the first session, while Mehidy delivered the hosts an early wicket in the second.

Pant made his international debut in 2017 and was initially inconsistent, but he has now found his feet in international cricket.
