Morocco is to face the reigning champions France in the last four matches on Wednesday...

Digital Desk: History-making Morocco will meet the defending champions France in Wednesday's FIFA World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Morocco, who made history by becoming the first African side to reach the semi-finals, will play attacker Kylian Mbappe, who is the tournament's joint top-scorer.

Morocco's Walid Regragui surpassed all expectations at the World Cup, defeating second-ranked Belgium in the group stage before defeating Spain and Portugal en route to the semi-finals.

"When asked if we could win the World Cup, I replied, 'Why not? We can fantasise; it costs nothing to fantasise. European countries are accustomed to winning the World Cup, and while we have faced elite opposition, our journey has not been simple. Anyone who is playing us will be terrified of us now." stated Walid Regragui.

Morocco's coach stated his defender Achraf Hakimi is ready for a "good duel" with Mbappe's PSG teammate and that France does not rely solely on their star player.

France, on the other hand, is coming off a tough quarter-final win against England, in which Mbappe kept silent. Although France is considered the favourite, France coach Didier Deschamps stated that he is excited to observe Morocco's "loud support" from their new audience.

FIFA World Cup semi-final matchup: At 12:30 a.m. IST, France will face Morocco on (Thursday, December 15).
