Despite winning the Shiggaon constituency, Bommai accepted responsibility for the BJP's defeat across the state...

Digital Desk: BJP's Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, resigned on Saturday after his party lost the state assembly election. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot accepted Bommai's resignation.

Bommai will serve as interim chief minister until the state's new government takes power.

Despite winning the Shiggaon constituency, Bommai accepted responsibility for the BJP's loss across the state, as the Congress won 135 assembly seats.

"There is one thing we must keep in mind. We received more than 36% of the vote this time, which was greater than the previous time. "No matter how we analyse it, a defeat is a defeat," Bommai stated.

Despite the defeat in the Assembly election, Bommai stated that it will have no impact on the general election next year. "We have Lok Sabha elections in 8-10 months." We'll do our best. "This will have no effect on the Lok Sabha," he remarked.

Bommai was elected from Shiggaon, defeating Congress candidate Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan by 35,978 votes. Despite lavish poll campaigns headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National Chief JP Nadda, and other major party figures, the BJP failed to retain power in the state.

Despite the BJP's defeat in Karnataka, PM Modi expressed gratitude to supporters and party workers. He also complimented the Congress party and expressed his desire to serve the people.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah thanked the people of Karnataka for allowing the saffron party to serve them for so long. He stated that the party, led by Prime Minister Modi, will continue to strive for the welfare of the state and its people.
