Digital Desk : Arianna Floyd, late George Floyd’s 4-year-old niece was fatally wounded after she was shot by an unidentified gunman while she was sleeping in her bed at her Houston home.

As per sources, the girl was shot in the torso and is in a stable condition after undergoing an emergency surgery.

According to media reports, the bullet pierced through her lung and liver, breaking three of her ribs.

The incident happened at around 3 am in the morning when Arianna was sleeping in her bed room of her Houston home. At the time of the incident, there were four adults and two children in the house.

The police is yet to make any statement regarding the incident as they are not clear whether the shots were fired by one person or numerous people.

The Houston police are trying to investigate the motive behind this shocking incident as at present no probable suspects are enlisted even on behalf of Arianna’s family.

Arianna was a common face in multiple protests and rallies in support of her late uncle George Floyd who was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, nearly a year and a half ago.

Following George Floyd’s death, people from the Black community outpoured their outrage even as the world supported them in their fight against racism.

A mass movement by the name “Black Lives Matter” rolled out, voicing their angst against racism, racial injustice and police brutality.

Police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact the department’s major assaults and family violence division.
