The young people experience various stressors in today’s world…

Digital Desk: October is the mental health awareness month, and there is no better time to draw attention to the increasing problem of mental health among youths. Unfortunately, the recent tragic loss of popular personalities including British singer, Liam Payne and a 26yr journalist Arnab Kumar Roy hailing from Bonaigaon, who ended his life in Guwahati are reasonable causes to discuss and focus on mental health issues. Such losses illustrate the current problem, people are experiencing mental disorders while accompanying them with modern-day stresses.

The young people experience various stressors in today’s world: social networks, career-related issues, and the consequences of quarrels around the world. Some hide their troubles for they worry people will look at them as pathetic or weak. It is always difficult to discuss an anxiety disorder or depression because these issues have not been recognized as a priority, and they draw people’s mocking rather than real help. The pressure may cause the person to break down, harm themselves or have disastrous consequences like committing suicide.

The correct state of the mind is as important as the state of the body. Lack of mental health affects people’s ability to manage stress, develop interpersonal relationships, and attain sound mental health. Counseling and qualified psychological care can substantially decrease such risks. Depression can be cured with proper diagnosis.

It is important to understand and accept mental health. It is important to note that, the taboo around mental health should be broken moreover, mental health is not a topic to be hushed – it is an important theme that can save lives.
