New Delhi: Amidst the COVID pandemic the counting of votes for the recently concluded by-elections for three Lok Sabha seats and 29 assembly constituencies across 13 states in the country started early in the morning on Tuesday.
In line with maintaining proper COVID precautions, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked the authorities of the respective states to not allow any victory processions after the declaration of the final results.
Besides, the ECI has also said that only two persons will be allowed to go with the winning candidate to collect the victory certificate.
"No victory procession after counting permissible. Not more than 2 persons allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorised representative receives certification of election from Returning Officer concerned," stated the Election Commission.

The by-elections in Assam took place in five constituencies on October 30th. Around 74.04 per cent voters turned out at the poll boots. The Bhavanipur constituency received 78 per cent turnout, followed by 77.56 per cent in Thowra and 77.37 per cent in the Gosaigaon constituency.
The early trends in the counting shows the ruling BJP and its allies leading in most of the constituencies.
The counting is taking place at seven tables in each center. It is expected to continue till the evening.
