"Protect yourself from monkeypox. Know the disease's causes, symptoms, and infection prevention measures, the health ministry advised on its Twitter account on Sunday.

Digital Desk: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released a list of recommendations informing citizens of common symptoms of the disease and what needs to be done if a person has been in physical contact with a confirmed or suspected patient, as India now has four confirmed cases of monkeypox (three in Kerala and one in Delhi).

"Protect yourself from monkeypox. Know the disease's causes, symptoms, and infection prevention measures, the health ministry advised on its Twitter account on Sunday.

 

The common symptoms of the infection include:

 

Fever

Skin rashes (these begin from the face, and spread onto arms, legs, palms, and soles)

Enlargement of the lymph node

Headache, muscle ache, or exhaustion

Cough, and soreness in the throat

 

What to do on coming in contact with a confirmed/suspected patient?

 

Any individual, who has, in the preceding 21 days, had exposure to a confirmed or suspected patient, should closely monitor their health. If they observe one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, they should seek immediate medical attention.
