In a horrifying act of punishment for not wearing a helmet, Chandmari police allegedly pressed the hot silencer of a scooter against the stomach of the youth, identified as Aman Ali.
The harassment left Aman in critical condition near Commerce Point, Guwahati.
Aman alleged that the police had initially intended to press his face against the silencer.
The victim took to social media to expose the alleged brutality and bring attention to the alarming behavior of the Chandmari police.
The Chandmari police are now actively investigating the incident. CCTV footage has already been collected and reviewed, with additional footage to be gathered and examined during the investigation.
All police personnel who were on duty during the night of the incident have been called to the station for questioning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amitabh Basumatari has dismissed the youth's complaint as entirely baseless, asserting that the CCTV footage contains no evidence of harassment.
