Chandrayaan-3 is the third installment in the Chandrayaan series and India's second attempt at a soft landing on the Moon's surface. Only three nations have been able to successfully land a spacecraft on the airless lunar world till now.

The spacecraft, which is equipped with a lander and a rover, will travel to the Moon for nearly two months. It will initially be launched into lunar orbit before initiating the landing approach.

The Indian space agency has confirmed that the lander is capable of soft landing and deploying the rover to a chosen lunar spot. The rover will then undertake in-situ chemical analyses of the lunar surface during its movement.
