Digital Desk: Congress Working Committee member Shashi Tharoor has vehemently condemned the circulation of cropped images featuring him alongside Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, labeling it a divisive act of "cheap politics." The Thiruvananthapuram MP clarified that the photographs were taken during Moitra's birthday celebration, which was attended by approximately 15 individuals, including his sister.

Expressing his frustration, Tharoor asserted, "This is just cheap politics. It was the birthday party of that child. Well, she is not a child, but for me, she is like one. That MP is around 20 years younger than me. It was her birthday party, in which around 15 people, including my sister, participated. Instead of showing the full image, they are spreading the cropped one."

Dismissing the online trolling, he emphasized his commitment to serving the people, saying, "They are spreading it as a private meeting, but then who clicked the picture?"

Earlier, Mahua Moitra had responded to the circulated photos, expressing her amusement on social media. "I like green dress better on me than white blouse. And why bother cropping -- show rest of the folks at dinner as well. Bengal's women live a life. Not a lie," she had posted on social media platform X.

The controversy surrounding the cropped images has ignited debates on the ethics of manipulating photos for political purposes, further underscoring the challenges of navigating contemporary Indian politics.
