The accused woman and the e-rickshaw driver were immediately caught at the scene
Digital Desk: Tension gripped the Borpukhuri area of Sivasagar during dusk after an alleged attempt to abduct a one-year-old child created chaos in the locality.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman and an e-rickshaw driver allegedly tried to abduct the child while he was playing near Borpukhuri with his grandfather, Biraj Nath, a municipal employee. Immediately, after being approached by local residents, Biraj Nath was able to free the child out of the woman hands.
The driver of the e-rickshaw and the suspect woman were arrested on the spot. The e-rickshaw driver has been known to be Piku Mahali.
At the scene, police arrived soon at the place and arrested both suspects who are now under further investigation.
The timely intervention of the child’s grandfather and the public prevented what could have been a tragic incident. The case has sparked serious concern among locals, especially parents, about the safety of children in public areas.
