Not only CM Bhupesh Baghel, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recommended using cow manure to promote the rural economy.

Digital Desk: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stepped into the Chhattisgarh Assembly carrying a briefcase made of cow dung to submit the state budget on Wednesday. Reportedly, Bhupesh Baghel appeared in the Chhattisgarh Assembly to deliver the state budget for the fiscal year 2022-23. He walked in with a square-shaped bag made of cow dung in his hand. Baghel even posed in his office with the bag. The Chhattisgarh Assembly's budget session started on Monday, and the state's budget for 2022-23 was tabled in the House on Wednesday. Notably, Bhupesh Baghel had already taken initiatives to make agriculture more profitable, including addressing the problem of stray cattle, promoting organic farming, and announcing funds for the rural economy. The Congress-led Chhattisgarh government declared in 2020 that it would buy cow manure from farmers and cow breeders. With this, Chhattisgarh became the country's first state to take such type of initiative. The Bhupesh Baghel government initiated the Godhan Nyay Yojana, which aimed to offer economic support to cow owners through procurement of dung as a source of vermicompost to address the state's chemical fertilizer deficit. Not only Bhupesh Baghel, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recommended using cow manure to promote the rural economy. In December of last year, Prime Minister Modi urged farmers to avoid using chemical fertilizers, saying, "We must switch to organic farming practices... Desi cow's dung and urine can help protect your farm's products while boosting productivity. Everything can be accomplished in a natural manner. We wouldn't have to pay for manure or any other equipment in this manner."
