The FIR was filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee against the comedian on Monday night at the Adampur police station in Jalandhar, Punjab. 


Digital Desk: Comedian Bharti Singh has landed herself into legal trouble for hurting the sentiments of the members of the Sikh community with her joke on mustaches and beards. Reportedly, an FIR has been lodged for the same against her. 


The FIR was filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee against the comedian on Monday night at the Adampur police station in Jalandhar, Punjab. 


Reports claimed that Bharti had been charged under Section 295 – A of the Indian Panel Code. 


In the video, which went viral on social media, the comedian said, “Beard-moustache has many benefits; drink milk and put some of the beard in your mouth, it will taste nothing less than Seviyaan.”


However, after the clip went viral on social media, Bharti apologized for the same on her official Instagram handle.


She stated that her intention was not to hurt any community. Bharti said, “A video alleging that I mocked ‘daadi mooch’ has gone viral for the past three to four days. I’ve repeatedly watched the video and encouraged others to do so, as I’ve said nothing disparaging about any religion or caste. I didn’t make fun of any Punjabis’.


On the work front, Bharti is co-hosting ‘The Khatra Khatra Show’ along with her husband, Haarsh Limbachiyaa.
