Problems with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in the second phase forced the organisation to suspend tests in a number of centres.

Digital Desk: The CUET-UG exam for more than 11,000 candidates who were supposed to participate in the fourth round has been postponed to August 30 to accommodate their choice of exam city, reports said.

At least 3.72 lakh candidates were expected to show up for the fourth phase of the Central Universities Entrance Test-Undergraduate, which was due to take place from August 17–20.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the exam, had announced earlier that all phases of the exam will conclude on August 28.

"Over 11,000 of the 3.72 lakh applicants who were scheduled to take the exam have had it moved to August 30 to allow for their preferred city to host the exam. In addition to taking steps to ensure that the centres' quality is improved, NTA has raised the capacity at the centres and added more exam centres, "Jagadesh Kumar, the UGC chairman, stated.

In order to ensure a smooth examination, it has also been decided to deploy additional technical staff at each centre in the form of an Associate Professor who will serve as a technical observer.

It may be mentioned that Kumar had last week said the exam was cancelled at various centers following indications and reports of "sabotage".
