Digital Desk: A police operation targeting gamblers was conducted in Dhubri, focusing on the Mitali Club located in ward no 2.


Acting on specific information, a team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police carried out a sudden raid at the club. The operation commenced around 9:30 PM and lasted nearly five hours.


During the raid, 16 individuals were detained and various objectionable items were seized from the premises.


Following the operation, five gamblers were formally arrested and taken to the police station, while 11 others were released on the spot under custody.


 The arrested individuals have been identified as Madan Saha (56), Rohit Jain aka Kala (37), Madhusudan Ghosh (54), Rajesh Choudhury (51), and Biswajeet Banik (54).


However, the release of the remaining 11 individuals, including Madhusudan Talukdar (60), Aamir Hussain (53), Habibul Alam Khan (55), Pradip Ghosh (64), Moinal Haque (57), Subhash Gulgulia (51), Zakir Hussain (63), Krishna Barman (64), Bidhubhusan Saha (61) and another individual has sparked public concern and raised questions.


Sources claim that several influential individuals, including political leaders and even a college principal, were present at the scene.


Speculation has arisen that some of these individuals might have been released due to potential agreements with the authorities.


Allegations of gambling activities operating inside several clubs in Dhubri town have been raised for a long time.


The recent police action and the subsequent release of certain individuals have now sparked serious questions and discussions among the public.
