Digital Desk: In a significant operation in Dibrugarh, the police have arrested a key suspect involved in a large human trafficking network.
Acting on secret information, the Dibrugarh police has arrested a woman named Kalpana Borai, who is believed to be the mastermind behind a major human trafficking network.
Kalpana, who had been targeting young girls and women from tea garden areas, was arrested by the Dibrugarh police at the Banipur railway station.
She used to take girls to Delhi and sell them for prices ranging from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,00,000, with false promises of employment in other states.
Rahul Sutravanshi, a vigilant resident from Moran, collaborated with the Dibrugarh police to apprehend Kalpana Borai from the Banipur railway station.
According to reports, Kalpana was preparing to sell four girls from Moran and nearly 40 girls from the Tinsukia district to other states.
Currently, the Dibrugarh police is continuing an investigation into the matter.
Police suspect that more people may have been involved in this human trafficking network.
Meanwhile, families of the young women from Moran have filed a complaint regarding the incident.
