  • Hossain Ahmed Mazumdar was travelling to his hometown in Katigorah
  • Hossain may have been experiencing a panic attack during the flight

Digital Desk: A youth from Assam's Cachar district has gone missing after a video of him being assaulted by a co-passenger on a Mumbai-Kolkata IndiGo flight has gone viral on social media.

Hossain Ahmed Mazumdar, a permanent resident of Katigorah in Cachar, was slapped by a fellow passenger aboard an IndiGo flight.

Hossain, who worked at a gym in Mumbai, was travelling to his hometown when the incident took place.

In the video, he was seen escorted by flight attendants when a fellow passenger slapped him, leading to immediate protests from other passengers and crew members.

The viral video suggests that Hossain may have been experiencing a panic attack at the time, which might have led to the assault.

Following the incident, his family alleged that he was supposed to take a connecting flight from Kolkata to Silchar. However, they are now worried as his phone remains unreachable, raising concerns about his safety.

IndiGo has issued a statement where they condemned the attack, calling it 'completely unacceptable'.

Hossain's family has filed a written complaint at the police station, demanding swift action to locate him.
