Digital Desk: Violence erupted in Dibrugarh's Chaulkhowa Gharbandi Chuk village following a reported incident of firing and assault that left at least eight vehicles damaged and the local community in a state of panic.

The residence of Abdul Mintu was allegedly targeted by miscreants who engaged in sudden gunfire and vandalism, damaging the property and destroying CCTV cameras.

While the incident is suspected to be a fallout of election-related tensions, the situation remains complex due to conflicting accounts.

Abdul Mintu's wife has raised serious allegations regarding the identity of the attackers, claiming the incident was a targeted assault.

Meanwhile, counter allegations suggest that Mintu himself may have opened fire.

A man identified as Abid Ahmed, from the opposing side, is currently undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for a gunshot wound to his leg.

Senior police officials have reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

Authorities are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage captured during the incident to determine the sequence of events and identify those responsible.
