Digital Desk: In a major crackdown, Dispur Police carried out a successful operation in the Khanapara area, recovering 18 stolen mobile phones and arresting one accused.

The accused has been identified as Sanjeeb Singh, a resident of Hengrabari, Guwahati,  who was allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of stolen mobile devices. The stolen phones were recovered from a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01 HC-3288.

According to police sources, the accused was attempting to smuggle the stolen mobile phones across the international border. However, his plan was foiled during a routine naka checking, when police intercepted the vehicle and apprehended him on the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered mobile phones had been stolen from various parts of the state. Officials believe the accused is part of a larger mobile theft network operating in the region.

Dispur Police have intensified their checking against mobile theft gangs, and further investigation is underway to identify other members of the racket and trace additional stolen devices.
