Digital Desk: The Guwahati Zonal Office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated movable and immovable assets valued at Rs 5.64 crore from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Indreswar Kalita on charges of corruption.


The investigation, initiated by the CM Vigilance Cell, accused Kalita of amassing disproportionate assets.


During the probe, it was revealed that Kalita owned assets exceeding his known sources of income by a staggering 131%.


Significant properties were registered under the names of his wife and other family members, who failed to provide any legitimate sources of income for those holdings.


As part of the inquiry, authorities uncovered Rs 15.24 lakh in Kalita’s bank account and an additional Rs 16.92 lakh in his wife's account.


Among the seized properties is a G+4 storey commercial building, along with various movable and immovable assets.
